for me there are many good info inside it...one i want to share with you guys is about nano technology in food...do you heard about it before?...

The future of food is unpredictable by human. Dramatic transformation of food has happened since the innovation of nitrogen based fertilizer. I call DDT, the HERO OF THE PESTICIDE, because the amaze impact it affect the global.

If some people believe it is good, some people will believe it is bad. Back to the topic, the current innovation of food ingredient. What I would like to express here is I think almost all food that we consume today, contains genetically modify (GM) raw material, such as corn, wheat, tomato, potato, banana, canola, chicken(KFC?!), cow etc. (want to ask in these case, still halal for insect gene in fruits?).
Do we really know what are we eating or what are we doing to the entire food system? May be we should start think of it, how everything comes from our plate.(this is sometimes my little habbit)
Dear my friend, do u heard about Monsanto? Or perhaps you too, as me were shocked, at the first time knowing bout “her”? In 20th century, the world has again, transform from the green revolution to the gene revolution. I am not really studied much on MONSANTO, but each time I read about its article, watch its video, listen from someone, I am not feeling good. Monsanto is controlling almost all seeds of the world
Monsanto Company was founded on 1901, is a US-based multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation. It is the world's leading producer of the herbicide, known as "Roundup"(will share more later). Monsanto also, is providing 90% of genetic modify technology seed of the world GE seed. The company's first product was the artificial sweetener saccharin, which it sold to the Coca-Cola Company(wow~~). It also introduced caffeine and vanillin to Coca-Cola, and became one of that company's main suppliers.
Monsanto scientists became the first to genetically modify a plant cell in 1982. Example of food or raw material which are GM:
Moth genes in potatoes,
Fireflies gene are being fused with corn,

“The more they spray, the more they have to spray”. At 1970, ROUND UP was invented by Monsanto. It is a weed grass killer. And what Monsanto does? They invent the seed which is designed to be spray! These seeds are named “ ROUND UP READY”. Haha, I got this story from the video.. for example, the GM soy bean is designed to be resistence of specific pesticide or herbicide, so when they are sprayed, they can smile sparkling with the pesticide or herbicide. However, GM also creates super bug or super wheat. These transgenic life, raise unpredictable (incredible?) impact globally!
Perhaps we shall think that the pesticide or herbicide are formulated to kill and get rid of pest and weed, nothing wrong with our health, or our animal s health, right? No scientific prove that human health is affected. It takes long term to be proved, perhaps few generation for the impact to be obvious. (sound like free, large experiment, done globally)
Here is one of the cases where the farmer affected by GM crops. In this video, the farmer s neighbur planted GM soy. Soon, his cow, chicken that he rare died. His child was sick and have breathing difficulties.video~~
People are not in good health. And the effects increase over time. Your childrens children may become sterile as did the rats who were fed only GE food. People are fat because junk food is addictive and has no nutrients, thus they must eat alot of it. GE corn is in most junk food. But, that is the trend of the era now, fast food, gene revolution era.
I heard there are many farmer commit suicides especially in India, where they used genetically modified seeds promoted by Monsanto hoping for greater yields. More than 4500 farmers have committed suicide, which some claim is mostly due to mounting debt caused by the poor yields, increased need for pesticides, and the higher cost of the Bt cotton seed sold by Monsanto.
A report released by the International Food Policy Research Institute in October 2008 provided evidence that the cause of farmer suicide in India was due to several causes and that the introduction of Bt cotton was not a major factor. It argues that the suicides predate the introduction of the cotton in 2002 and has been fairly consistent since 1997. Other studies also suggest the increase in farmer suicides is due to a combination of various socio-economic factors. These include debt, the difficulty of farming semi-arid regions, poor agricultural income, absence of alternative income opportunities, the downturn in the urban economy forcing non-farmers into farming, and the absence of suitable counseling services.
GM food is everywhere now, we can’t deny. It is hard for consumer to decide what to buy, because there are too many issue on it. Watch here:-) Issue of hunger, health(vitamin A in rice), food quality, shelf life, food safety, environmental and more. As a food technologist, what do you think on these issues?
